Reach For The Stars

"Star Trek" opens at number one with 5.1 million units, the third largest first week sales of 2009. It's the third number one DVD of the movie series. In May 2003, "Star Trek: Nemesis" opened at #1 with 900.000 units. The first Star Trek DVD chart topper was "Star Trek: Insurrection" which opened with...50.000 units in May 1999. Back then, the DVD market was very small. The first ever DVD Star Trek title to hit the VideoScan Top 20 chart was "Star Trek: First Contact" which peaked at #2 in October 1998. The new movie is the 15th "Star Trek" DVD title on the VS charts (including movies & series).

"My Sister's Keeper" enters the VS chart at #3 with nearly 500.000 units. Cameron Diaz has had two number one DVD hits including "Charlie's Angels".

Sacha Baron Cohen's "Bruno" debuts at #4 with nearly 400.000 units. The chart perfomance of the "Borat" DVD was more impressive in 2007. It was a #1 DVD hit with first week sales of more than 2 million in March 2007.

Two former DVD chart toppers released on blu-ray and re-enter the VS chart. The classic "Gone With The Wind" was originally a #1 hit in 1998, while "Fight Club" topped the DVD charts in 2000.
